D.L. BYRON

People who have been around me for some years in the world of power pop, know that I am a very big fan of D.L. Byron and his “This Day And Age” album was at the top of my ‘MUST BE ON CD” list for years! (It finally came out on CD a few years ago…)

D.L. is, also, a righteous human being and has built up a fairly large catalog of releases over the past two decades, all of which are very, very pop-friendly, indeed.  He has a great new album out, too – “&IU”.  It rocks – and that matters because there’s just not enough of the ‘ole ‘rock’ left, kids.

Eric Sorenson featured and wrote about it in April’s “Jangle On!” column, which you can read HERE.

Now, let’s hit the music – below is a track written as a tribute for Gene Clark.  Here is a taste from the new album, folks.

A FEW WORDS FROM D.L.:

Hi Kids, D.L. Byron here. I was asked to write a few words about my most recent CD entitled “&IU”. I’m a bit tentative about writing about my self or my work, but I’ll try to put my best foot forward.
“&IU” took three years to complete from the initial recording process to it’s final mastering. I have always tried to set the bar rather high for myself, meaning that each record should be better than the last, and each cut should stand up as a single. I hope that I have achieved this with “&IU”. I also rather playfully enjoy attempting to re-create the “Lysergic Acid Diethlamide-25” experience as it may apply to audio. I went happily waltzing over the hill with the tracks entitled “And Now” (remembering John) and “And Now” (reprise).

The only other thing that I would like to add is that when I wrote the song “Into The Rain”, I had no idea, until it was finished that I had written it subconsciously for Gene Clark. He is one of my favorites, and will remain so forever. So hence, the dedication, (For Mr. Clark).
As for the rest of the recording, I will leave that to you to decide.
I wish you all well!

D.L.
