You know, I’ve been told by many of Pop Pioneers here at PGH that I keep way, way too low of a profile with letting you all know about the pretty darn amazing “POWER POP PRIME” series on this site.

Honestly, that is true.  I’m not sure why or what  personal, insecure defect I have but, beyond the basic message with letting you know about when a new book is coming out, I have to do a better job with that.

So that will change in 2013.  Dramatically.

After all, we’re talking about a 3,000 page history of the indie power pop from 1995-2010 and that’s a freakin’ cool bit of important work and fellow pop geeks really should be aware about.

THE SHORT STORY BEHIND “POWER POP PRIME”:  the “Prime” series is a nine volume book series that spans the years 1995-2010(each book comes with a CD).  The first 300-page book was published in July, 2011.  “Volume 7 – 2007-2008” was the unusual starting point for the series, followed by “Volume 9 – 2010“(January, 2012). “Volume 1 – 1995-1997” arrived in August, 2012 and “Volume 2 – 1998-1999″ in December, 2012.  Each book contains reviews of the best indie power pop from the years that its respective book covers, along with articles and interviews with important power pop artists.  The early volumes in the series contain high-resulution scans of the printed mail order catalogs that my old company Not Lame Recordings sent out to many thousands of power pop geeks throughout the world and are  fascinating historical documents of the activity of the times they represented.   “Volume 3 – 2000-2001” is due to be published in March, 2013. In other words, SOON!

You can get details on the books by going to THIS LINK at the PGH Store.

Fix in the Mix host, Bruce A. Brown is a life-long pop (music) geek. Over a span of five decades, he’s worked in multiple facets of the entertainment industry, including producing, engineering, artist management and music journalism. Obviously, he cannot hold down a job.
