We would love to hear what your plans on with your next project – Are you going to a full CD, an EP or just release songs as you finish them? Release them digital only or combine physical with the digital or what?

Saren Oliver (drums, vocals, synth.): The plan right now is to rock the EP for a bit and continue writing. Once we feel proud of enough new songs, we’ll finish the full album, and release it all together. We plan to release it physically and digitally.

What are you finding that is working well for your music right now that others may find interesting to hear about?

SARAN: Thankfully, a comment we have been getting consistently is that our sound is so huge – people are continually surprised that we are just a two-piece, both from listening to our record and from coming to see us live. We work really hard to create instrumentation that sounds really full, to maximize our sound in a way that’s not overwhelming, so it’s great to hear that it’s paying off. It makes for an entertaining show for sure.

Is there a particular musician(s) you’d love to collaborate with – and why?

SARAN: One musician who we instantly bonded over when we first started playing together is Jack White (and the White Stripes.) So playing with him would definitely be a highlight of our lives! He’s pretty much our ultimate.

What other artists and bands have influenced your music and any particular reason why?

SARAN: There are obviously countless artists that have influenced us, but as a duo I’d say that Devo, Talking Heads, the Cars, Kaiser Chiefs, the Cure, and the Black Keys are some of the biggies.

Yes, it would be great if most indie musicians could work on music full-time but the reality rarely the case for most of them. I am always asked by music fans, what are the careers or full-time jobs that the musicians of the music they are listening to do…so ‘what’s your main gig?!’

SARAN: I am a nanny for a couple different families and Shane is the US Sales Manager for Dakine.

Okay, last question: Where can we hear more of your music and any other releases you have?

SARAN: You can download our EP on iTunes, and it’s available at koolstuffkatie.com. You can also hear a few of our songs on our website, as well as at Reverb NationYou can also find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter – we post updates quite a bit!
