JEFF FINLIN – Surprise Box 70

Posted on 25 October 2012

A “NOT POP” ALERT!!!

I am so very excited and honored to be able share with you a whole bevy(six total!) of songs from one of my favorite songwriters – PERIOD.  His name?

JEFF FINLIN

During the Not Lame years, I touted every new release he put out on the site and many music fans followed my impassioned advice and checked Finlin out – many, who thanked me later for unearthing such a rare breed of competent songwriting.

I have assembled some of my personal favorites for you to download and enjoy in the hopes that you will consider checking out his Kickstarter campaign to fund his next record.  But do NOT look at the link below until you hear what this man does with some of the best heart-pulling, brutally honest, exposed songwriting I’ve heard in the last 10 years.  Many of his songs move to me tears – and connect with a very real human, in-the-moment part of being alive, both deeply flawed and beautifully blessed.

They speak to me.   With this very small sampling, I’m hoping that some of you will feel the same.

I tried to keep them balanced from the slower moving, more intense songs with a few upbeat, downright poppish ones.  (check out “American Dream #109”, a humorous counterpoint to Jackson Browne’s “The Pretender”

I’d love for you to share below what you think of the material below.

Anyway, after you check the music out…then, please consider raising your hand to help get his next record done.

Here is a bit about “Moby Dick”, Finlin’s next project being funded at Kickstarter:

I’ve been blessed to do what I love to do for the last twenty years.

During this wonderful ride I’ve received accolades, traveled the world,

eaten many wonderful foods, tasted the deliciousness of the Gods and

had the opportunity to make records for you in all shapes and sizes.

I’ve made records and written work in dining rooms, bathrooms,

greyhound busses, garden terraces, in fire pits and on the top of

Mayan temples. I’ve written and recorded everywhere, but as much as

I’ve tried to put together my one defining work as an artist,

it has thus far escaped me.

I finally realized that to attain my goal I need to involve and engage

the folks that have helped sustain me over the years – that’s you!!

Without you, there is no Jeff Finlin, as you are, and always have been

the conduit to success.

—My vision for this endeavor will be titled” Moby Dick” and it will

transcend boundaries and genre’s. It will be accompanied by a book

of writings and prose in the American literary outlaw tradition. The

theme of the project is the quest for the unattainable, the obsession

behind it, and the things and realizations that naturally follow.

Every person I have come in contact over the years has had a hand in

the creation of my art, (yeah that would be you again), so I’m asking

for your support.
