R.I.P. SCOTT MILLER (Game Theory, The Loud Family)

Scott Miller

Shite news to start off, crap news any time.  Sadly, one of our own has passed and left us a strong legacy of outstanding work.   SCOTT MILLER is gone.  Read about this sad news at his home page HERE and also at Rolling Stone HERE and Absolute Power Pop HERE

His wife has blessed all music fans and much of Scott’s body of work by making six of his core albums available for FREE off the home page at THIS LINK.   She’s loaded it all into a Dropbox area. Keep checking back at the links there as their bandwidth has been drained as hundreds of fans, old and new, are downloading the albums.

Also, I highly recommend you pick up his book, “Music: What Happened?” that Miller published in 2010.  It’s available on Kindle and print on Amazon HERE.

PGH PODCASTS:

About two weeks ago I sent out a survey to everyone to give me some feedback on all the Podcasts flowing from PGH in the last few months(12 of them since February!).   Thanks to the 330 of you who took the 45 seconds to fill that out.   I guess that’s okay out of 3,00o pop geeks but if you’ve not taken it yet, please go to THIS LINK and answer the 3 questions that will take under a minute.  Also, if you want to check out the podcasts before filling it out, go THIS LINK and start hearing what you’ve been missing.  By the way, I’ll start a STREAMING link for the audio like this in about week.  🙂

Speaking of PGH Podcast, head PGH Podcaster Bruce Brown has one of the great blogs on the net and you should be checking out his vast work at the following two links.  Be prepared to get lost inside the music.  There are hundreds of hours of music to enjoy inside all his hard, archival and invaluable work.

Drink A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute To Lite Rock

Lite Rock

It’s been almost a year in the making but it’s DONE, FINISHED and ready for consumption and purchase.  Trust me, this is one of the best tribute albums you’ve heard in a long while and, though you may think that the concept of ‘Lite Rock” and the songs covered here make you cringe, please suspend that belief and look at how incredibly well written many of these songs are…and enjoy new intepretations of them by .

Please read this note from the master of cermonies, Andrew Curry on why this project  had to happen:  Monsters of Lite Rock is an idea that originated more than 20 years ago, as my three college roommates and I each discovered that we had grown up listening to (and loving) these AM radio classics of the late ’70s and early ’80s.

As someone who has been fascinated with this music for decades now, I had the idea to reach out to some of my favorite musicians of today to see if they might be interested in recording new versions of these old classics. There was such an outpouring of affection and interest from these artists that Drink A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute To Lite Rock was born.  28 songs, reimagined and reinterpreted for today’s music fans.

So whether you love the original versions and you’re curious about how the new recordings might sound, or you’re a fan of the current artists, and you want to hear their latest tracks, Drink A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute To Lite Rock is for you.
