Shoes, the power pop rock band originally from Zion, Illinois, has been recording music since 1974.  John Murphy, Gary Klebe and Jeff Murphy, the core members of the Shoes band, along with drummer, John Richardson, are currently working on their next album to be released in 2012.

Along with such seminal artists as Dwight Twilley, The Knack, 20/20 and The Records; Shoes were at the forefront of the power pop movement in the late seventies. Ever resilient, eschewing fads, trends and fashions, Shoes are united in their goal of preserving the legacy of the three-minute pop song.

The Shoes are truly power pop heroes; I’m still amazed at their ability to create pure listening pleasure with so many of their songs. In addition to their early classics like Tongue Twister and Present Tense, I was recently blown away by the “As Is” discs – Take You Away, The Sun, Tomorrow Night, and more – as well as their contribution to Yellow Pills: Prefill (the wonderful Like I Told You). Thanks for this terrific Xmas tune. It’ll surely find its way onto my holiday playlists in the coming years.

To add to what Stu had to say, the new Shoes album, Ignition, is nothing short of amazing. It rocks and pops like no other. It was a hard choice but it is my favorite album out this year. Number 2 is Redd Kross.
